The old saying goes the only way to eat a whale is one step at a time. How often does the task set before you never begin because of the thought that it will never get done. If you have a lot of weight to lose for example and know that it will most likely take as long to take it off as it did to put it on. Now you have a long road ahead of you. If you run to fast fatigue and injury will prevent you from continuing. Only by extreme patience can you make it safely to the end. My advice is to do your best every day and let the future worry about itself. You can not become thin today, but you can get some excercise into your muscles and some nutrients into your stomach. You cannot become financially independent today, but you can refrain from buying that unnecessary thing you have been thinking about. The Bible backs me up "Take no thought for tomorrow, for tomorrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient for each day is the trouble thereof." What will you be in the future? You cannot say. But who you are today will definitely effect who you are tomorrow.  I firmly believe that who you are on the inside will match your destiny. It's my philosophy that those who are awesome on the inside will lead the most awesome lives. Not necessarily though the happiest are most successful but the most worthwhile. The kind of life where they will not be ashamed to stand before God at the end. What am I saying, that a person internal state apart from Christ will give them confidence before God? No instead it's that good spirit inside of them comes from God. I believe this is what is meant in the psalms when David says "my cup runneth over." Also "one thing have I desired and that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple." If you are familiar with the Holy Spirit it is good advice for you to try to spend some time in the spirit every day.. If your are constantly filled with the spirit then I have to say I envy you. And you are sure to make that long trip safely. Anyway God Bless- Jeff

Jesus said- "I will send you anoher comforter that he may abide with you forever." Paul said "grieve not the Holy Spirit of God whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption." Imagine a room is being rented. There is you- you're just a normal good natured guy, and there is your two roommates, that are always fighting. One of them is a scumbag, but you like to hang out with him sometimes because hey, nobody's perfect. The other one is Jesus. Now whose side is it best to take? Your flesh will constantly be fighting against the spirit of God if you are born again. If you listen to you flesh it grieves the spirit, it quenches it like a fire. Not that it leaves you forever but you lose the power of the Spirit if you walk in the flesh. And if you know the peace that comes from being filled with the spirit and the heartbreak that comes from walking in the flesh it is good to keep in mind. By the way it's important to remember your flesh will die one day... In other words one of your roommates will stop being able to pay the rent and one will remain- so which one do you want to stay friends with?

You've all heard people say it, "I work hard everyday." Well that's all fine and good but there is more to life, and more to being righteous than just working hard. (Consider the difference between Mary and Martha.) What if people tried to treat there wife or husband the way we treat God? "Honey you haven't talked to me in a week!" "Well that's okay because I have been working hard, you have enough to eat so who needs love." I watched a documentary recently called- "Just, Melvin- Just Evil" About some violent hillbilly who raped his daughters and killed a nurse, never was arrested for it either. Well his one relative, who you can tell was one of those guys who just liked to be laid back and not get involved, which is ussually a good quality but there is a time to step in too. Anyway he is asked about the guy and he says "he was always a great mechanic." Well I won't judge cousin Billy or whatever his name was but I'm pretty sure God will look at more than his mechanical skills on judgement day. This is not meant to be a post only about relying on your own hard work (and not the hard work of Jesus on the cross) but about relying on anything besides the completed work of Christ. So back to the documentary; Anyway, when this guy died, the minister at his funeral (you know they have to try and say something nice) said "well he loved to read the Bible and read it several times." Now yes; I doubt it's true, but that's not the point. "Not the hearers of the word will be justified but the doers!" And what does the Bible say to do- have faith in Christ. My friend had a dad who raped her. One day they were watching Ricky Lake and it was an episode about a guy who raped another man's daughter. Her dad said "I would kill someone if they did that to you." Implying - "It's okay when I do it though." Well unfortunately even that statement didn't end up being true, but it just shows you how far people will go to put stock in their good qualities and downplay their glaring . Why can't we just admit that we are sinners and we need the Holy Spirit's help?

Have you noticed how highly science is praised in this generation. At first impression it almost seems like we are pretty intellectual. But my theory is that science has become the latest trend, but it doesn't make the people talking about it scientists any more than the pacifier craze actually made highschoolers infants. Well what can I say, the science that these famous atheists are best at is sociology. It doesn't matter if every individual can choose whether or not media effects them, stastically with such a large group of people under there influence they can come up with a reasonably accurate number of the people that they can control. (We are talking people like Seth MacFarland and the like) I guess they have some math skills to, Stastics and probability can be pretty tough. Well hey we are all trying to forge our identity in this crazy confusing world; after all without a cause what are we? Just a ship wandering aimlessy through the sea of time towards no certain destination but death. Hey they are good at marketing too! That's supply and demand! If you can tell a man by his enemies what kind of man is it that is an enemy of God? Well I guess the thought is that whether he is good or bad he is at least a significant person. Hey who wouldn't want to be? Not to mention someone with conviction- "You are going against God... are you sure that's a good idea... okay if you say so." The problem is that there is a fine line between bravery and stupidity. The other problem is it doesn't make you cool to go against someone just because they are powerful, otherwise the guy who shot Martin Luther King would be a hero (well maybe he is to some.) All it really makes you is a jerk and a false accuser. But while these rich folk standing at the steering whell of social engineering may know a little bit of science for the the most part the masses can rightly be called the ignorant masses. All they know is Atheist battle cries like "Evolution is a proven fact." But they never really thought about it in detail.  You know what's crazy I was just about to say off the top of my head I always felt like the guy who writes Dilbert was someone who believed in evolution, but actually thought about (therefore making him more skeptical) But when I looked it up on Google trying to find some skepticism I was super happy to see that he is now aware of how much a racket it is. I'm convinced more people will be as well once they learn how to think critically. Infact I would like to quote Scott Adams with the Thesis (if there is one) of this whole entry- "What I’m saying is that the evidence for evolution that is available to the casual person of interest, including most students, is simplified to the point of being misleading, false, or useless. " http://dilbertblog.typepad.com/the_dilbert_blog/2007/09/fossils-still-b.html When's the last time you heard a highschooler talking about the physics of heat transfer, or the shortcomings in our quest to build a fusion reactor, or how about the fact that we can actually create gold now. When people talk about science in modern day america they ussually mean evolution and the big bang- unproven, useless and a waste of time. But they don't even really understand these theories in detail.
