Obama defends NSA Surveilance of citizens- Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Liberty.
Taking the city- Taken by wrath. Sheep cloning scientist dies. |
And not with the weapons of this earth. But by preaching the gospel and being filled with the Holy Spirit. Well anyway I'm off the subject. Thye NSA can look at your email, cell phone conversations etc. As far as I'm concerned it goes against the whole unreasonable search and seizure part of the constitution. Obama says they need a search warrant, but I don't believe it. Then again the police have always tapped wires, trying to find out what the mafia is doing and what not, Is this just more of the same? Maybe it really is in our best interest. In the context of other things, namely the Patriot act, and the fact that Obama extended it, it seems like there is a conscious effort to take away more and more of the control people have over their own lives. But in the words of Dennis Miller- that's just my opinion I could be wrong. |
The Bible says whoever captures his wrath is better than he that captures a city. And I think it's fair to extend that principal to other forms of self control. There doesn't seem to be a more notable example then Alexander the Great. Depending on how you measure things of course, I still think taking over the entire world in a short period of time followed by a relative peace was harder than cloning a sheep. But anyway Alexander died young because he fell apart drinking. (It's a good story but after doing some research it seems that there is an ongoing debate regarding the nature of Alexander's demise.) But here is a modern day example, a brilliant scientist comes home drunk and depressed, then precedes to hang himself cutting his career short. Allegedly it was a mistake he made in his drunkeness he was just trying to be dramatic and assumed his wife would save him, but she had gone outside to try and escape the argument. In the religious world there is Jimmy Swaggart who from everything I heard was actually one of the few sincere televangelists; unfortunately he wouldn't restrain the flesh. We need to remember the flesh is at constant emnity with God. If God has blessed us with talent it can take us far, but if we can't control ourselves it will cut us short.

The Middle East: When I speak they are for war
Even a man accustomed to war once complained- "I am for peace; but when I speak, they are for war" Psalm 120:7 A recent article on yahoo news was talking about how the GOP was up in arms about Obama not being more up in arms in the Middle East. Let's face it half of the people speaking on the subject of politics don't know what they are talking about. The Bible warns us about this in the book of Jude. "Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. " But I for one agree with Obama's position of withdrawing more from the middle east. For one if we are truly a government of, for and by the people then the people's desire to bring home the troops- the promise he got elected on- is nothing short of patriotic. Also most of the time us being there gives them more reason to hate America.

Wouldn't it be ideal if America could have peace and maintain superiority at the same time? It seems impossible. What if Iran's nuclear program is just for the purpose of creating power? Do people really want to see Iran prosper more through cheap abundant energy? Well history has shown that peace and security in a nation can be done. While king Solomon reigned over Israel it would be an understatement to say there was no debt- "And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycamore trees that are in the vale for abundance." If you read further you see that all the surroundings kings paid tribute to Solomon, while still being on good enough terms to enthusiastically participate in his commercial ventures. Could the U.S policy perhaps achieve something similar with some more wisdom. Since we are the ones who put radical Islam in charge of Iran in the first place you have to wonder.

Ariel Castro: Habitations of cruelty
By now most of the American public has heard the desperate 9-11 call made by Amanda Berry that saved herself and her two fellow prisoners. Most have heard the testimony of there rescuer who put down a burger for a moment so he could kick down a door and save these girls from torment. Consequently for his efforts he will now never have to pay for a hamburger again. The rewards of sacrifice truly are sweet. But what many people find surprising though is how this man was able to get away with having three girls locked in his house, a house that was not without guests (even the girls rescuer had barbecued with Ariel and listen to salsa music in his back yard while there girls were locked up in the house.) all those years.
|
I am not surprised by this though; it's just as the Bible says- "the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty." People will move heaven and earth to create an outward image that is acceptable. None more so than Satan himself who "appears as an angel of light." But if they think nobody will see or know people can be truly evil. An outward appearance does not fool the eyes of God. Let us remember very soberly that a day of judgment is coming. "For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. " Ecclesiastes 12:14
